Life used to be a lot simpler and easy and reading was one of the most popular forms of self-development and entertainment. While readers fully well understand the benefits of reading for pleasure, very few are actually aware of the great benefits of reading books.

But these days, with the ever advancement and technology, there is more distraction and other things for people to do. Since many people have lost interest in reading, some children, even find it boring as they prefer to play video games or spend all their time on their phones.

Below is a youtube below that explain why you should start reading.

Some benefits of becoming a reader:

  • Stimulates the mind – A study done by the NEA explains that people who read for pleasure are many times more likely than those who do not to visit museums and attend concerts, and almost three times as likely to perform volunteer and charity work. Readers are active participants in the world around them, and that engagement is critical to individual and social well-being.
  • Reading Can Reduce Stress – A study by consultancy firm Mindlab International at the University of Sussex showed that reading reduces stress. • Reading Books Expand Your Imagination – You can learn and elevate your self just by reading a book, authors and good writers can take you to places and imaginary worlds where no other form of entertainment or technology can rival. The story of a book will absorb your mind so let your imagination fly. While you are reading, you are building images, faces, places, colors, settings and stimulating your creative juices. You connect all these creations and making changes while you keep reading as your world-view expands. If you want to expand your consciousness and your awareness of reality, then reading is still the best way of achieving this. Books can cover a more in-depth look and wider scope into topics, as they can delve much deeper into a subject than any television documentary does, a film is often a shortened down version of a book.
  • Source of Entertainment – Reading is one of the cheapest forms of entertainment, it is even free on the internet or libraries. There’s a reading genre for every literate person on the planet, and whether your tastes lie in classical literature, poetry, fashion magazines, biographies, religious texts, young adult books, self-help guides, street lit or romance novels, there’s something out there to capture your curiosity and imagination.
